This year’s AFL grand final will be like no other and fans have been quick to ensure it will be a sellout.

Fans were quick to take advantage of the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, joining the online queue for tickets from 9am AEST.

The Ticketmaster website withstood the barrage but with just under 10,000 tickets available, were gone by 9.19am. Queensland-based AFL lovers are expected to dominate this year’s crowd, although those from all other states and territories except NSW and Victoria can also attend without quarantine. However, those travelling from interstate have been warned to expect a grilling from police at the border.

“Anyone who has been in a declared hotspot such as Sydney and planning to breach border directions by travelling to Queensland should be warned that they may be turned around and could be fined,” he said on Friday.Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has cautioned Melburnians against getting together to watch this weekend’s finalReigning premiers Richmond will take on Geelong when it is held under lights and away from the MCG for the first time this Saturday night.
