A three-year-old boy has died in hospital after he was struck by a red sedan on Thursday evening, with Victoria Police alleging the driver failed to stop and assist the little boy.

“It is believed the child was struck by a driver in a red sedan who failed to stop at the scene,” a statement read.

CCTV from the scene reportedly showed the car drag the boy for a couple of metres, Herald Sun reported.Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives continue to investigate the collision and are appealing for the driver involved to come forward.
