Sydney’s public transport network will again be thrown into disarray next week as rail workers strike amid an ongoing industrial dispute with the state government | _SarahMcPhee

Sydney’s public transport network will again be thrown into disarray next week as rail workers strike amid an ongoing industrial dispute with the state government.

The department said “heavily reduced” services will operate on the T1 North Shore and Western, T2 Inner West and Leppington, T3 Bankstown , T4 Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra, T7 Olympic Park and T8 Airport and South lines. “We have spoken about a 2.5 per cent per annum pay increase, inclusive of superannuation, and it is incredibly disappointing unions are pushing ahead with more disruptions,” he said.

“We implore the union to call off their disruptions and consider the impacts on the NSW community during this challenging time,” he said.RTBU NSW secretary Alex Claassens said the state government “can put a halt to this by simply delivering on some basic requests”.

_SarahMcPhee Public trains strike on Tuesday. Public teachers strike on Tuesday. Both are government jobs, both have issues with their conditions. Conditions controlled by the government. Hopefully the public sees through all the government smoke and mirrors.

_SarahMcPhee Eight years of 'better economic management' 😂

_SarahMcPhee Just great! Complain if you like but at least show up to work…. So everybody else can do their jobs! All these smart people have to explain, how WE, frontlineworkers in hospital and aged care are going to work this Tuesday? When do WE get to strike ? sydneytrain Sydney

_SarahMcPhee There are strikes everywhere. Teachers drivers.. unions have too much power.elections are coming and I guess this is perfect way to score points for AlboMP . Shame workers are used for political gains by unionsnsw

_SarahMcPhee That’s the point. We need more industries taking industrial action to show we have all had enough. If you are not a CEO you should be supporting your fellow workers. We will only stop the slide into the Australian version of the American swamp by standing together.
