As thousands of tourists descend on Exmouth for the Easter long weekend, locals fear the strain on the town's health services will be too much to bear.

Exmouth community leaders are calling for greater resources for a population that grows from 3,000 to 18,000 people during tourist season. The WA Country Health Service says it regularly rosters more staff to meet demand, with thousands of visitors set to descend on Exmouth over the Easter long weekend.

While visitors will enjoy front-verandah access to a UNESCO world heritage site and the rare chance to glimpse whale sharks, some locals are worried the community is at risk.
