Increasing numbers of COVID-19 victims are being affected by a mysterious post-virus illness.

Child psychiatrist Scott Krakower tested positive for COVID-19 back in mid-April, but three months on there are still days he feels overwhelmingly tired, short of breath, and unable to speak because of a hoarse throat.

This phenomenon is attributed to a mysterious post-viral illness that is still poorly understood - but increasingly reported by patients, who are sharing their experiences online in forums like the Long Covid Support Group on Facebook with more than 5,000 members. Around three-and-a-half weeks in, alongside a high fever and chills, he began coughing so violently blood came out. He lost the ability to swallow and his voice became high-pitched.

Out of caution, Mr Krakower quarantined himself from his wife and two small children for a total of five weeks, which was especially hard on the family. Scientists aren't quite sure why this happens, but, said Mr Glatter, it might relate to an injury to a part of our cells called mitochondria, which are responsible for generating energy.

Massive spike in demand for masks leads to sale restrictionsChemists, hardware stores and major supermarkets were inundated with Melburnians searching for supplies, a day after Premier Daniel Andrews said it was 'almost certain' masks would be part of the state government's long-term coronavirus response. If you can't buy one, make your own. What a surprise- NOT! The idiots who pass for government these days...do nothing for months, don’t get more masks in preparation, wait until there’s a massive outbreak then announce it’s now recommended to wear masks. It was clear from about January that masks are a good idea. So he wants everyone to wear masks but doesn't have enough of them. Rightio.

Can your boss force you to take a COVID-19 test?A South Australian worker has hit out at her employer, claiming she is being “forced” to do something uncomfortable post-lockdown. This suck for those of us in a retail environment where we don’t have an option to work from home, but also don’t feel particularly safe being at work. Especially given that COVID has crossed into NSW now. There is literally no social distancing in our centre & it’s so unsafe. Probably a pointless requirement. All a test says is, at the time of the test you were either infected or not. If negative it will not tell you or anybody else that you became infected five minutes after taking the test. Generation victimhood. Some people search out reasons to feel oppressed.
