These budget crumbs are not enough for daily survival

A budget is all about choices and priorities. Once again, the Labor government has chosen to maintain welfare for the wealthy in the form of tax concessions on assets while keeping job seekers in poverty, despite huge cost-of-living pressures.

We have had a world-class medical system in Australia, but what will we be left with at this rate ?I have had solar panels for about the last 15 years. As well as being a sustainable power source, it has been a nice little earner.

Taxation is the method by which we all join together to enable our community to achieve its common aims and promote the national good. Australia has a lot to fix in this regard, but our negative view of taxation prevents us having a sensible conversation about it. Young people now have to wait many years to get out of casual work and this creates genuine insecurity.

I recently got a new, part-time job working for a research centre, and I get paid more than my boyfriend and my best friend. Money isn’t everything, but they sure do deserve enough money to live on. We are immensely grateful to the wonderful people in our public health system for all their support, expertise and ongoing care.
