Doctors say lives are being put at risk as overcrowding returns to the nation’s emergency departments, leaving patients stuck in corridors for hours or days and creating "the ideal environment for COVID-19 to spread”.
Crowding is being reported in all jurisdictions but is said to be most dire in Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and the Northern Territory.Dr John Bonning, president of the emergency medicine college, said he was concerned people would die waiting for care, and allowing crowding to continue was “untenable and unethical”.
Concerned doctors are calling for state and federal governments to extend their crisis response to coronavirus with new measures to reduce demand on emergency services, including allowing some patients to bypass the emergency department and by pushing ahead with new infrastructure. “Because it’s winter, people have all of the symptoms that are consistent with coronavirus,” said Dr Whitelaw, an AMA emergency medicine representative.

What expert is giving these orders. What qualifications do they have in Infection Control, virology and epidemiology. None.
Stop your fear mongering!
Dedicate one small hospital for Covid19 ICU beds & separate the hospitals out. Not rocket science.
Then maybe people ought to only attend them when they have a real emergency, and not for every minor ailment that comes their way.
