Opinion: It’s possible the extraordinary measures made necessary by the epidemic will result in lasting changes to the way households operate | MattWadeSMH

A lot of dads have been spending more time with their kids lately. Fathers and mothers everywhere are juggling work routines with child care, home schooling sessions and domestic chores during the coronavirus lockdown. The adjustments haven’t been easy but the evidence suggests there’s a silver lining for many dads.

The constraints imposed during the coronavirus lockdown have put additional pressure on many households. Working mothers have been especially hard hit. Job losses and business disruptions have also caused widespread financial uncertainty and stress. The first applies to employers. Many firms have rapidly adopted work-from-home and telecommuting options for most, and in some cases all, of their staff. This has never before happened on such a broad scale. The flexible work patterns established during the pandemic are likely to persist and become more entrenched in workplace cultures.

But many businesses were still resistant. A third of respondents were not permitted to work remotely even though only 2 per cent said none of their work could be performed from an alternative location.

MattWadeSMH I don’t think these measure will impact too much in serious change in fathers/men. Women will continue to dictate change within men.

MattWadeSMH Yes Dad can stay home. Wifey can drive interstate trucks, repair oil and gas rigs (oh and build them to), maintain huge Diesel engines for tankers etc, repair and install all those household appliances that make life easy, work high up building high rise buildings etc.

MattWadeSMH I hope so. 👍

Scientists dispel theory COVID-19 escaped from labThere is overwhelming evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 jumped from animals to humans, rather than escaping from a laboratory, virus experts say. That nasty open air wet market will always create something far more nasty than a lab anyways. Think of the permutations that can occur in that disgusting place. Well the scientists would say that, wouldn’t they? Whether ChinaVirus is an escapee of the Wuhan Lab or a jumper from the bats, still one thing is true, it originated from Wuhan! From the market or laboratory, the point of origin is still China! They must be doing a lot of things wrongly that the virus originated there!
