Roosters star Brandon Smith has been given a “kick up the arse” after leaving some senior players and figures at the club unimpressed by missing the team’s mid-season review last week.before returning to training on Monday ahead of this week’s clash with Parramatta.
Smith recently took up an option – worth around $850,000 next season – to stay at the Roosters in 2025. “The club dealt with the matter of what happened,” Keary said. “It wasn’t a major thing. But there are some standards here that have been around this joint for a long time.“A lot of those older boys have put those standards in. We all adhere to them. Brandon is no different. When you don’t adhere to them, you get punished. That’s an internal thing ... but the club dealt with it in an appropriate way.
Smith’s breach notice serves as a formal warning and does not require him to front the Roosters board or answer to officials, with Smith accepting fault for missing the team review when contacted on Sunday.
