The family of an Indigenous man who was last seen by police entering a river in northern NSW a month ago has spent thousands of dollars searching for him.Gordon’s sister Bianca and mother Narelle at a march against local police last month.NSW Police said officers saw Mr Copeland near a bogged car near Yarraman Bridge on the Canarvon Highway in the early hours of Saturday, July 10th, and allege he ran away from them before he was seen entering the river.

"Since the 16th of July, Narelle Copeland has spent over $8000 on boats, GoPros, wet-suits, fuel and food," Lesley Fernando, Gordon's aunty, said in a statement. "There are no words to describe the pain of losing a family member, a young man of just 22, without any answers." Police initially searched for Mr Copeland alongside specialist teams from Fire & Rescue NSW, the Rural Fire Service, SES, Police Rescue, and the Marine Area Command, but the search was downgraded to just local police five days later.
