Victorians who go to work while displaying coronavirus symptoms are the "biggest driver of transmission" and the lockdown will not end until people instead get tested and isolate while waiting for results, Premier Daniel Andrews says.
The State Government offers a $300 payment for workers without leave entitlements who have been tested. But he warned business owners needed to do more to ensure workers were not coming to work while sick, or entire industries may need to be shut down.

Possibly a bigger lockdown is needed essential services only.The virus doesn’t always present itself obviously and small teams of workers rely on all staff coming to work to keep the business going.

Good for you! State the obvious. Stay at home if you are unwell. Quarantine should remain, without an end date, if Citizens don’t stop transmitting the COVID19 virus around their own workmates, friends and families. Brain Damage and Pneumonia are Death knels to the sick.

I don't live in a covid affected area, but I assume that will change soon. How about instead of paying employers in unaffected areas we use that money to pay people to get tested in affected areas. Allowance for casuals to not get paid for shifts whilst testing and isolating.

FatherBob What about people going to work with a viral load but no symptoms as yet? Aren’t you contagious for at least 24 hours before symptoms hit? We are all going to feel guilty as hell if we infect anyone because we have gone to work infectious but pre-symptomatic.
My company has a bonus scheme which rewards working while sick.

People more afraid to not go to work than to get the virus. A one off payment is all well and good, but precarious employment in these times may be lost to an individual who misses a week. Confidence needs to be instilled that there will be sufficient jobs to go back to.
