Last minute hero Jamie Elliott has lauded teammate Jack Ginnivan for a subtle act that helped set up the match-winning goal for Collingwood against Carlton. 7AFL 7NEWS

’ hearts in barely believable scenes that saw the Pies come back from four goals down to claim a one-point win and deny the Blues of a spot in the finals after one of the most thrilling games of the season.Analysis, local footy and the biggest moments, Seven and 7plus are the home of footy shows for every fan.

Curnow sent the ball long into the forward line, but Collingwood rebounded back out through Brayden Maynard, who found skipper Scott Pendlebury in the middle of the ground. The clock ticked under two minutes as Pendlebury sent the ball in the direction of Jamie Elliott at half forward, who would gather the ball and run in to kick the go-ahead goal.Sitting under Pendlebury’s kick, Ginnivan saw Carlton’s Adam Saad charging back with the flight of the ball, trying to neutralise the contest.

Assessing the situation to pefection, Ginnivan got in the way of Saad, selflessly boxing him out to allow Elliott to run onto the loose footy. Without Ginnivan’s block, Saad could have made a play for the ball and seen it go out of bounds, and the Blues might have held on to eighth spot on the ladder.Your cookie settings are preventing this third party content from displaying.
