The Australian Red Cross is doubling its funds to help people affected by bushfires with the charity saying more than $61 million will now be available as immediate relief.

The charity on Monday announced an additional $10,000 payment on top of the $10,000 already available for people who have lost their homes, $7500 for people who were hospitalised as a result of the fires and $5000 to repair structurally damaged homes.

Australian Red Cross chief executive Judy Slatyer said the additional funds were made possible by the generosity of the community with $127 million donated since July 2019."We're allocating these funds based on ou "This is an unfolding disaster and tragically even more communities need support as bushfires continue right now and throughout this summer."

Nice of ARC to give more of the money I donated to the people I gave it for. Never again ARC.

All of the money donated needs to be available and given to those affected as quickly as possible. Charities operate more like businesses and pay their staff handsomely - I will never donate to any large unaccountable charities again.

Buy big water cannons and put out those fires.

People donated to Red Criss for bush fire relief Red Cross exposed now as a sham. What about the remaining 40%

They are still withholding tens of millions and have pocketed over ten million for their executive branch. Red Cross are a disgrace, until now they have only released A couple of million. auspol redcross donationscandal

I will still avoid donating to RedCrossAU in future. I will look to a fund with direct and full distribution of donations. This has been very messy when donations have been offered in good faith.

Found out

About time. No more rorting. RedCrossAU 9NewsAUS

They fly in aid and fly out children. That's where the big money is. Why get in a fight over a measly 90 million.

Money was given to the Red Cross for the Bushfire emergency, not for a rainy day of some type of other disaster.. This will be the last time I will give to the Red Cross, I just can't trust them with my money

About time

It’s taken how long Where is the rest One would think an organisation as big as Red Cross - and other huge charity organisations , would have the distribution of donated $$$ down pat - get moving - people have been left with nothing 🤬

Allocating $2000-$10,000 is not enough when you have made entire families homeless! Where is the money actually going? Every person who had their home destroyed by the government, should receive a house fully paid for! S

And how much again was donated? I will never donate again to the red cross

Not very immediate is it.
