Sky News host Peter Gleeson says the rancid smell of pork and barrelling is writ large in Queensland as Sports Minister Mick De Brenni has altered 32 different grants.

Mick de Brenni personally intervened to award sports grant to Labor electorates, overturning his own department’s recommendation on 32 occasions. His intervention saw Labor electorates receive 68 per cent of the funding, and the LNP only 28 per cent. Had the original departmental recommendations been followed the split would have been Labor, 44 per cent, and the LNP, 45 per cent.

“De Brenni, as his arrogance, didn’t even provide an explanation for the change, simply saying his department didn’t get the original recommendations right and he was correcting “some errors’’,” Mr Gleeson said. “The rancid smell of pork and barreling is writ large in this sordid affair. “This is a government riddled with integrity questions. Whether it’s senior ministers or senior bureaucrats, big integrity questions continue to be exposed.

As for 'They are the worst government this state has ever seen. Bar none.” Peter seems to have excised his memory or knowledge of the corrupt and venal Bielke Peterson government. As a callow youth he surely must have read about Joh's fall from grace and resignation in 1987.

Perhaps Peter might turn his incisive analysis to the Federal LNP pre-election Sports Rorts and NSW LNP pre-election regional grants rorts where there is clear evidence of improper dealings all the way to the PM and Premier. Of course this won't happen because they're protected.

Let's add to the facts.... 1. Not found to have been corrupt in decision making 2. Referring to less than 1% of grants awarded 3. Despite any questionable changes, funding across seats by political party has been equal

Peter's endorsing a winning formula yeah?

Gleeson can anyone take this F. . K wit serous supports Morrison and his crooked Sports Minister that reinvented the word pork barrel not once has he reported on this. He helps run the protection racked for Morrison

AnnastaciaMP 'nothing to see here, oink oink'.

Queensland Sports Minister Mick de Brenni denies pork barrelling amid sports rorts accusationsQueensland's Sports Minister Mick de Brenni defends his intervention in a sports grant program and denies accusations of pork barrelling after an auditor-general report found he overruled his department's recommendations on 33 occasions. What exactly is the news here? That the Minister actually took responsibility for his position and looked into all proposals? Here's a shorter, more concise version of your headline. 'Minister finds error. Minister fixes error.' Seems really hard for anyone associated with the LNP to take the high ground on porkbarrelling in sporting funding.

Along with fuel rod and enrichment facilities! Thousands of jobs for the short, medium and long term, supply of synchronous baseload to the grid, and we can export fuel,to other nations!
