I wonder if the Queen has a mate with a ute? Her Majesty, we’re told, is moving house – relocating permanently from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle. There was no information as to how the move will be achieved.
I say “traded down” because a ute is such a wonderful vehicle. It never suffers mechanical problems, you can throw anything in the back, and over the years it becomes dented and scratched in a way that serves as a warning to others. When I put on my blinkers to change lanes, you can see people thinking: “Let’s get out of the way, that guy clearly can’t drive.”
But the person with the ute is a giver, not a taker. A lover, not a fighter. Certainly, a lifter and not a leaner. Somehow, in contrast to the song, removing the handles proves the answer and so we slide the thing down the stairs, heave it into the ute, and tie it upright using so many disparate knots that I should get some sort of Boy Scout badge.
