'The Liberal Party stood for nothing': Former Liberal MP Tim Smith slams party's election campaign
"What did the Liberal Party stand for in this election? What was the point of difference between the Liberal Party and the Andrews Government?" Mr Smith asked. "What was the Liberal's vision for the next four years? What was the point of difference on debt? What was the point of difference on tax? Why did we not talk about cost of living from the moment the federal election concluded in May? Why didn't we have a cost of living package ready to go?"
The former member for Kew was instrumental in Matthew Guy's return to the Liberal leadership in 2020, before spectacularly falling out with his former colleague when the Liberal leader publicly called for him to not recontest the 2022 election. "We were talking about the wrong things, we didn't have a vision, we hadn't done the policy work," Mr Smith said.
But the strongest criticism was saved for former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, who responded to the Victorian election result by taking to Twitter to claim"the Liberal Party has been taken over by the hard right".
TimSmithMP What did you do to help? You are equal I’d say, didn’t show any leadership
Tim, with all due respect, the difference between the two parties was so large you could drive an average sized family sedan through the gap without hitting anything. Well. I could.
He is thanking himself for nothing
TimSmithMP Tim-an hour of your ego tripping, self opinionated loudly broadcasted crap whilst I was volunteering a pre- polling highlighted much of what is wrong with the Victorian Liberal Party. I’m sure SKY will be a fine new home for you.
They couldn't have been more different.. it's Timmy on the drink again?
I love how Timmy slates all the Libs woes onto others. It wasn’t me Sir, it was the other boys.
Lol, Tim Smith never stood for anything so he's one to talk! But it's true, the LNPCorruptionParty stands for nothing but their own self interest.
You've really gotta admire the drink driving disgraced mp for being unable to tell the parties apart, kinda how he couldn't tell the road apart from the kids bedroom.
Agree
Kinda sad
TimSmithMP You are right Tim. I watched you election night & you had the courage to speak straight out. Shocking that Peta felt sympathy for Dan- a real slap for Liberal voters.
The election is a farce everything is controlled by the lobbyists who in turn are controlled by big business eg big pharma and the WEF .It does not matter who wins they all come from the same stable.
Clean out old boys club & those who served with Kennett, Napthine, Baillieu. Move on from Liberal DNA of slash & burn everything. BUILD rather than dismantle. Bringing back Guy was fatal as was Treasurer not knowing costs & nutter candidates, where's the checks. LiberalVictoria
As the LNP have moved further left... it has become harder to distinguish the difference between the two major parties.
Has Tim Smith fixed the fence yet that he crashed into while drunk driving where he almost killed an 8 year old child? SpringSt VicVotes
