Brad Fittler loved what he saw from Joseph Suaalii in a GPS game last year and knows he'd make it in the NRL before 18, but hopes at the end of the day he chooses the game he loves | SMHsport

"I knew Joseph was playing and that was part of the reason. Actually, that was a lot of the reason,'' Fittler told the"I was hoping he'd get the ball but he barely touched it this day. But he was still too good for them. He took an intercept for a try, made a couple of breaks and set up a try. Scots won the game right on the bell. I thought the stand was going to come down."But Joseph had it all. He read the game. And he had the skills.

Fittler debuted for Penrith when he was 17 and can still remember his first reserve-grade game against Manly. Sea Eagles forward John Jones grabbed him by the throat and nearly decked him. He had to mark up on Kiwi international Joe Ropati. "Playing the code that pays the most dollars is very dangerous,'' Fittler said. "I just hope he plays the game he really wants to play. To put a 16-year-old in the newspaper and talking about all this money, it's a bad look. Nobody wins. I understand it's a big story. The biggest story right now is about a 16-year-old who has never played the game. I'm not sure what that says about our game.

Being at a club like Souths and having Wayne Bennett mentoring him would also work in Suaalii's favour, said Fittler.

NRL looking at 'skeletal tracking' as possible upgrade for controversial bunkerThe NRL is going to extreme lengths to find ways to improve its bunker technology following another round dogged by video refereeing blunders. The bunker are in a position to influence a Gambling outcome. Has anyone ever though of this scenario. Also I THINK they listen into radio broadcasters and are influenced by their analysis. This needs investigating. Just get rid of the bunker, and go back to on-field ref’s call. Teams should just accept the good with the bad. It would all work out about even in the long run. Oh, and no post-match “autopsy” super slo-mo replays to prove the ref got it wrong, either. Back to basics. JustAGame
