Bring that beat back: why are people in their 30s giving up on music?It would have been unimaginable in our 20s, but these days more and more friends are disengaging from a passion we once shared. Surely this is premature? People give up on new music because A) their RAM gets full (and possibly diminishes) B) you seek music that reminds you of your youth Enjoyed the read. Music is important to me. People are drowning in stimulus. I have a theory that engaging with music is more demanding, emotionally and sometimes mentally, than other mediums. When all we could do was save up and buy and create our own collection, it was a joy. There's a lot of noise in modern life. Plus, they're probably just not paying for music, but listening to it on free platforms.
