Barty, Kyrgios, Kokkinakis and more! 🇦🇺 🎾 DavidZita1 looks at how every EVERY Aussie could fare in the first round of the AusOpen FULL PREVIEW:

Still just 19 years of age, Tauson comes in for her first Australian Open main draw match but boasts winning form against Sharma, who she defeated 6-2, 6-2 in Luxembourg last September. Sharma is the more experienced player by far, but she’s coming up against a player with plenty of momentum in Tauson. It’ll be a tough challenge for Sharma if she’s to get through to the second round here for the second time in her career.

The former world No.20 enters the Australian Open well and truly adrift of that, sitting at No.385 and having to be given a wildcard after a right Achilles issue reached its peak last year. Saville finally opted for surgery and now looks like getting back to her best. She was knocked out early in Adelaide International 2, but her performance in Adelaide International 1 was cause for hope, with wins over seeds Caty McNally and Katie Boulter before eventual defeat at the hands of Iga Swiatek.

Bolt thrived on the hometown support in 2019 when he made a run to the third round here, but Davidovich Fokina offers a stiff challenge on all surfaces. He’s also comfortably the higher ranked player of the two, sitting at world No.51 while Bolt is nearly 100 spots below at No.142. Bolt’s powerful groundstrokes and smooth game at the net means he’s likely to fare better the quicker the court plays, but it can only get him so far.

Verdict: It’s a great effort for O’Connell to work his way into the main draw, but there are high hopes on Gaston and he should get through with little fanfare.
