The regional NSW city of Armidale may not seem like the obvious location to find a Yazidi pop-up restaurant.
The pop-up restaurant is just one reason Armidale, a city of around 25,000 people, is being held up as a"champion" of regional refugee resettlement. In addition to the pop-up restaurant, other initiatives that were spearheaded by SSI included arts and sports programs with the new arrivals and residents, along with fostering volunteering among locals.
The"whole-of-community" initiatives were also credited with leading to "an extraordinarily high retention rate" of new arrivals.Settlement Services International

Council proposes 'bizarre' local laws which would ban motorbike riding on SundaysResidents are left flabbergasted as a regional Victorian council wants to pass laws restricting residents from riding motorbikes on rural properties. Please include that this isn't on public roads. How come the most stupid people in the community can get onto the council and the intelligent ones don’t even bother Hang on. Given commercial application is exempt (as farms are) the rule would only apply to people riding motorcycles for *recreational* purposes before 7am. Why is that a problem? City people might think it is, those who enjoy utter silence until the birds sing don't.
