A working mother-of-two who can't afford childcare, a cafe owner who says 'people are leaving' Darwin and a medical student struggling to balance work and study are among the Territorians who say there isn't much in the NT budget that helps them.

The 2024 NT Budget has been handed down, but residents say it does little to relieve cost of living pressuresAn NT family, disability advocate, business owner and student have responded to the 2024 budget, with most saying it doesn't include much that helps them.It includes major spending on roads, infrastructure, education and crime prevention and cuts to health funding.

"I am struggling a lot because we to pay for childcare … So I take care of him by myself while working full-time," Ms Panta said. They say their most recent power bill was double the last, and rising prices are constantly on their minds.However, some Territorians who spoke to the ABC have been left wondering what's in the budget for them.

"There's an awful lot of people with disabilities who don't meet the NDIS criteria, and they're really struggling."The NT chief minister handed down her pre-election budget, just over three months out from August's poll. These are some of the biggest announcements that may affect you.

"I think unless you've had some sort of personal experience … or some knowledge of disability, it can be a frightening subject." The budget includes big spends on law and order, including funding to recruit hundreds more police officers, which Ms Gagliardo said made her feel safer.
