Mourners cried as the tiny coffins were carried overhead of family and friends before being laid to rest.

Hundreds have gathered at Flinders Memorial Park in Lara to mourn four children killed in a fire at their home in Werribee.Tributes have been left at the scene in WerribeeFour white coffins were transported in three hearses from Al-Taqwa Mosque in Truganina to the memorial park.

Inside was 10-year-old Hamid, six-year-old Esin, three-year-old Nadir and one-year-old Elaine Turgem. Prayers were said and tears flowed as the coffins were carried overhead of family and friends before being laid to rest.A cousin, Mohmed Mougadam, who is also the chair of the Nuba community, said it was a sad day for them and all of Australia."So [this loss] is the country's loss.""Australian people, they are great … they contribute financially, positively to the family," he said.

Mr Mougadam said the family's father, Najm Eldin Turgem, had done everything to try to save his children, but couldn't."They are not going to replace the four kids, but … to support him socially.""Really, we feel sorry," he said.Mr Turgem was distraught at the funeral, seen being hugged and consoled by fellow mourners.in Werribee. Just one child, eight-year-old Ibrahim, survived the fire.Flowers and teddy bears with messages of support were left at the scene.
