Of four state election candidates backed by Climate 200, two remain in contention – but both trail Liberals

In fact, there’s a high chance the number of independents in the state’s lower house will drop from three to zero.

Meanwhile, two existing rural independents – Suzanna Sheed in Shepparton and Ali Cupper in Mildura – both lost their seats to the Nationals, who also claimed the seat of Morwell off retiring independent Russell Northe. Under state laws that came into force for the first time this election, political donations are capped at $4,320 over a four-year period for a single donor. But nominated entities are exempt from the cap, meaning registered political parties can appoint an organisation that can receive donations.

Teal wave falling short of Spring Street, but wealthy backer hails ‘remarkable achievement’Independent candidates backed by the Climate 200 fundraising vehicle delivered a fright night to Liberals in key state seats, but pundits say issues fuelling the teal surge at the May federal election were lesser factors in Victoria. JewelTopsfield Does the Millionaire want his daddy's cash back? OKIfNotPalmer NothingToSeeHere JewelTopsfield 'Apples to oranges'. The federal election had a very disliked PM whose party had the stench of an Engadine Maccas eruption. The Victorian state election had a reasonably popular Premier & therefore, less need for a change. It's just a matter of time before the Teals prevail. JewelTopsfield I guess Victorians like having their hands held, being locked-down, jabbed and told what to do. My heart goes out to those who see things differently! ❤️

JewelTopsfield Horseshit. JewelTopsfield I wonder if it's because the federal teal wave in Victoria was simply a masquerade of being Green, and that has been seen through quite quickly by the electorate in six months? JewelTopsfield Nice that acknowledges the Teals as disruptive.
