Tamara Styles had been smoking cigarettes since she was 14 years old, until an Aboriginal program gave her a plan to quit.

Through the process, Ms Styles had help and support from the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre via regular check-in phone calls and encouragement.It has now been more than two years since her last cigarette.

Data from the Australian Burden of Disease Study showed that tobacco use was responsible for 20 per cent of the health gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. "So I think the podcast, verbally hearing them, and hearing different people we know from the community and their experiences gives people food for thought.""We use smoke as a positive thing in our communities, it is there for ceremony, there to cleanse and heal. We use traditional burning to control our lands and the smoke from that to do coal burns to control our hunting areas," Mr McDonald said.
