'Take responsibility' for your Islamic State fighters, America urges Morrison government | davidwroe

The United States has urged the Morrison government to “take responsibility” for Australian Islamic State fighters captured in the Middle East and bring them home to prosecute or rehabilitate them.

When asked whether the United States would prefer Australia repatriate and prosecute its jihadists in Kurdish custody, a US embassy spokesman said that “repatriating foreign terrorist fighters to their countries of origin is the best solution to prevent them from returning to the battlefield”. In response to the Kurdish calls, Mr Dutton’s spokeswoman last week said the government was “determined to deal with these people as far from our shores as possible and ensure that any who do return do so with forewarning and into the hands of appropriate agencies”.European countries, which have many more Islamic State fighters than Australia, have also been reluctant to heed calls to drag their jihadists back for prosecution.

“The SDF are not a recognised sovereign government, and will not necessarily be able to hold on to their territory permanently, let alone their prisoners. Leaving them in SDF hands means Australia won’t be able to control what happens to them.

AustralianLabor would definitely take them back, there isn’t a vote they wouldn’t pay for. They'll be back, as soon as Bill Shorten is Prime Minister it will be the first thing he does.

The big problem facing Scott Morrison’s governmentJulie Bishop has slammed the lack of women in Australian politics — and taken a subtle swipe at her own party at the same time. Just go away already. Its merit based lady, not affirmative. Embarrassment to W.A. I know JulieBishopMP and TurnbullMalcolm were friends. However, I never realized that both had such inflated egos that they would rather destroy the party and punish their former friends, than recognize and accept that the Australia will still be fine without the two of them. The problem with bleating women like this is that the Major Parties are forced to accept under qualified women who are not up to the job and then blame male colleagues, puff out their chests and call them misogynists, if you are good enough you will be chosen

One Nation PH, I will keep pushing for coal-fired power... We have got the best coal in the world, we are stupid for not utilising that, for not reducing power costs to encourage more investment into Australia.
