A worker has been rescued after having a medical episode while he was suspended between 30 and 40 metres up a communications tower on Sydney’s upper north shore. Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Ambulance crews were called about 9am on Tuesday to reports a man was suffering from a medical episode at a work site on Quarter Sessions Road, Westleigh.Firefighters, including rope rescue crews, worked with paramedics to rescue the man with a cherry picker-style truck.
He was rescued by 10.15am and was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition. The man is believed to be aged in his 40s or 50s.“A worker has suffered a medical event 30 metres up a communications tower,” he said on Twitter.NSW Ambulance Inspector Christie Marks said the patient appeared to have suffered a medical episode while working about 35 metres from the ground.
“The Special Operation Paramedics train specifically for these situations and they are the best in the business at what they do,” she said.
