A very senior cricket official told me that in the members enclosure during the first three days of this game, a fist-fight broke out in the MA Noble stand in full view of patrons, a patron was ejected for screaming insults at Bairstow, and on day one, someone at the top of the Members’ Stand racially vilified Hameed.
Having watched cricket on all major grounds in Australia and at many places around the world, I must reluctantly confer the dubious prize for bad behaviour to the denizens of Sydney. It was a close race, as my former home town of Mumbai has gotten as brazen and occasionally rowdier than Sydney in the past two decades.
The bad behaviour of spectators does not reflect poorly on the SCG or its administration, but on us as a society and as individuals. When people complain, the SCG swings into action. Knowing the chairman and the chief executive of the SCG, I am sure their investigations of such complaints are not token but the problem is assuming a troubling scale. It is time to summarily tear up the cards of any members or their guests whose behaviour at the SCG bring this hallowed venue into disrepute.
Pretty soft sledge being really beaten up by the media. Geez.......Ive been hearing worse things at the local supermarket.
Alcohol free stadiums will largely resolve but l guess it won’t happen
But he is fat….
It’s breathtaking arrogance to peddle socio-sexual fascism with such condescension. From the members stand at the SCG no less, while enjoying one of the most tolerant multi-cultural societies on the planet.
