Sydney warned of damaging winds of up to 100km/h, residents urged to secure items | sarah_keoghan

Sydney residents are being urged to move their vehicles away from trees and to secure loose items around the house on Monday as “vigorous” winds wreak havoc across the city.

The state’s snow parks also received an unseasonable dump of snow amid the wild weather - despite summer being just 10 days away. On Monday, residents across south-eastern parts of the state were being asked by the NSW SES to secure loose items around the house – such as trampolines, umbrellas and outdoor furniture – after receiving 617 calls for assistance between 5am on Sunday and 5am on Monday.

The weekend also proved busy for Marine Rescue NSW with volunteers performing 65 rescues on Saturday and Sunday due to the conditions. Meanwhile, a fresh evacuation warning was issued just before midday on Monday as the state’s Central West region continues to battle major flooding.
