And the ABCC which has banned workers from having their own elected safety officers on sites SafetyFirst CFMMEU CFMEUJohnSetka

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 must be painful for Domainfax to write.

blame the faceless tradie at the bottom of the rung. Tradesmen carry out works according to a plan and specification. They certify they did what required of them. Not their fault if the architect’s design won’t stand or the engineers spec is weak or the developer a shonk

Are you kidding? Our builder ripped asbestos off our house, dumped it on the ground at my front door then told me (a 40 year old woman with 4 kids) to dispose of it myself.... a quick call to Work Cover sorted THAT out... a slap on the wrist & off he goes to wreak havoc elsewhere

The building industry certification is laughable. From crane certification through to final acceptance the process is open to graft, corruption & sheer incompetence. It is geared to enable $2 building companies clear passage to scrimp & save $m at the long-term cost of strata.

No, this is what happens when the government LNP slackened the rules to get as many rabbit worrens built as quickly as possible. Risking people's lives during and after construction.

It sure is! Whats more, its been going on for well over a decade.

Another reason why I would never buy a flat in a high rise.

I haven’t heard one statement by GladysB yet? UnderHerWatch

Where are the results of the concrete tests of the panels? Every panel is numbered and tested in multiple areas. There should be an easy to follow trail and they should be making it public information. If everyone did their job there is nothing to hide.

Still blaming the little guy I see.

SallyRMelb Friends are saying the chatter is the foundations are three metres short of what they should be, and the reworked land was not measured for subsidence. How do we check those things now?

MSMWatchdog2013 It is not trades... it is engineers that certified the construction..

To hear the builder & developer say that the job wasn't rushed , have you ever seen the penalties they impose on contractors and how they unjustifiably compress timeframes due to their financial constraints or the volatility of the market . Not rushed , BULLSHIT

Think you better look to the developers screwing the builder who screws the subbies (trades) it’s all about profit the developers and the rest trying to make a living

More engineering than trades

beges007 What absolute garbage. We don't know what caused this very unusual drama. It may just be a faulty batch of pre cast concrete panels. Do you honestly think that a council inspector would have picked that up. Sgt_Patterson

It’s because legislation contains the words deemed to satisfy . It’s all about arse covering and authorities taking no responsibility. It’s rife in all industries,

brucerossbrc This is what happens when the government doesn’t want to govern-just hand out sugar & let everyone get what they want. Sham of democratic process to elect a government & they simply give over the reigns to the invested/vested interests...never rock the boat or do the tough stuff

brucerossbrc Where is the Lnp's tough cop on the beat To busy chasing people protesting the governments workchoices attacks on us all. Investors in these dodgy apartments looking at it all disappear before their eyes . Waiting to hear from the insurance council , what they think of it all

Please read.

It took them more than 2 years that there a dodgy builders and corrupted councils who only care about how large is the brown bag! It will only take one tower building to collapse before people are killed or injured. Then it will be too late!

This is why unions need to have more say and stop letting Liberals do back gander cash payments to allow developers to get away with just about everything. A systemic issue needs to be investigated NSW gov and Developer approvals by ICAC

The question is what will the government do to prevent this from happening now? and what are they doing to help these people who is in this building/ situation?

Yep

“LEBANESE MAFIA” runs building industry in Sydney lol

gladysB RobStokesMP LaneCoveMP VictorDominello & the LiberalNSW 'Planning the Planet' Structural Strategy for Sydney and NSW with their partners NSWNationals. One opaltower at a time...

nswelectric Same with mental health, no independent accreditation, and token consultancy with wider community to appear to meet requirements. People die all the time yet no one cares GregHuntMP QandA abc730 whistleblowers

Precast concrete panel failures might be due to: 1/ Project manager demanded rapid delivery. 2/ Supplier accelerated delivery as demanded, compelled to use sub-standard concrete recipe, not up to required strength. CFMEU encounters project haste putting worker safety at risk.

Exactly..or not tradesmen..just hacks with a private training provider 'qualification' instead of a quality skilled education from tafensw InvestinTAFE TAFEeducation rlong62

GladysB maybe we need some red tape!

No different than companies appointing their auditor

and there are only 3 trades where a licence is required for all work (plumbing, electrical, a/c) everything else no licence if the work is less than $5k no gas inspectors in nsw for years, all self regulation sydney water no longer the regulator etc etc

sydneyworks The blame for the bankrupt planning and certification system lies squarely at the feet of NSWLabor NSWLaborOpp

broomstick33 And we laugh at buildings collapsing in third world countries due to corruption, cost cutting etc. and we are really no better.

Building must be OK! Construction company “building on ‘diversity’ . . to construct a ‘quality future’. I feel safe! Globalists tell us ‘diversity is strength’! I want my airline pilots to be chosen on diversity!

All residents should sue and sell off. The developer’s projects must be reviewed.

ValerieLynneCl2 What happens when the DEVELOPERS dictate the construction design and construction So much for privatizing every thing even building inspections

Maybe when Australia has its own Grenfell Tower🔥 something will be done about private certifiers?

WhteRbbnAdvocat MalleeRooter Apart from pointy end flights etc. At $1400 I think WE the taxpayers, got off lightly! The beetrooter romp cost us heaps more especially when you take into account lard arse Christiansen‘s SE Asia sleaze trips? The_Nationals ICAC

1 factor. Reason of licensing builders is the ‘builder’ must be professionally capable of managing works in first place. Certifiers check is a backup. Hence we need to replace NSW antiquated builder licensing/accreditation for higher qualification linked & graded license system

Greed, corruption, incompetent and ignorance

So due to laws/regulations being changed the consumers has no rights and it favours the developer. I think the government has some question to answer here . It’s the government fault plus cheaper labor from overseas.

Blaming tradies for poor standards of work is way too convenient The current system fails to adequately train, supervise and certify work. It is a product of developers and government who want no part in quality of work or the capability of those doing it.

This is lesson for all those who buy appartments in high rise buildings. Be aware of dodgy builders.

No this is what happens when lnp cut red tape and fill responsible positions with unqualified party flunkies

SeanBradbery Not Trades, but Developers! Tradesmen train for years to become masters at what they do and as a former certified Orthopaedic Bootmaker who did a 4-year Apprenticeship, I take offence at your implication! Developers cut corners to save money by doing so they put lives at risk!

This building is going to be one of many.

People need a full refund of unit purchase,& all associated costs to reestablish somewhere over a few weeks. There will not be resolution for years: blame game of Construcion professionals, trades & services will go on & on for years.Chinese Developer Japanese builder interests.

notice LNP &Corporate backer all about demonising unions worker ruthless obligations compliance regulations VILIFICATION LNP Govts Who do they really serve?&Corp MSM Press do they really inform of all the facts in context so people understand what is really happening? gedkearney

p_hannam I’m guessing self regulation has been a great success, except in this catastrophic situation.

SELF REGULATION you know MSM Press Corp who ever demand less red tape regulation & demand privatisation outsourcing so EMACIATED GOVT & SERVICE just incapable of ensuring the best interest of our nation. yes or no people? abcnews gedkearney

Cheap labour has flooded our labour market quality is questionable the end product houses/apartments prices have exploded Skilled locally trained workers have declined along with apprenticeships Total dependence of foreign labour is the new norm Anyone paying attention In Govt?

Good luck if you bought a property built by this developer, at best it will drop substantially in value.

. Gee? But where’s all the pressure to take so many shortcuts and to build all these shonky, overpriced high-rise, third-world slums coming from, I wonder?

s shocking NSW gov attitude They listen to garbage fr developers People spent $900k for ea unit Big investment to buy a lemon Buying off d plan is very risky Gladys should be more proactive instead of abrogating gov's responsibility Certifiers r allowing fire cladding to pass

Is ABCC still on holidays

This is what is now happening with electricity too and it is going to get worse. Unfortunately the media doesn't report on the changes occurring in any industry that allowed us to be safe, so we the people are left with death traps.
