Police have ended a late-night rampage in which a man was seen allegedly abusing shoppers and spitting on bystanders in inner-city Sydney. 9News

A Sydney man is set to face court today after a late-night rampage during which he allegedly spat on a number of people including police and ambulance officers.

NSW Police were called to Crown Street at Wolloomooloo around 9.10pm last night following reports a man was running through traffic hitting cars and abusing shoppers at a nearby supermarket. Officers from nearby Kings Cross Police Station attended, and after a short struggle arrested the man on Suttor Street.Several people in NSW have been fined for spitting offences, including one involving a paramedic and one involving hospital security guards.

The man allegedly spat near police during the struggle and later at Kings Cross Police Station allegedly spat on another man present. Two hours later the man, from Potts Point, was taken to St Vincent's Hospital around 11.30pm where he allegedly spat on another police officer and a NSW Ambulance paramedic.The man was taken to St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney.
