Breaking: Commuters have been left stranded as urgent signal repairs stopped trams running from Central to Convention from about 8.25am

Commuters were left stranded on their way to work this morning as urgent signal repairs stopped trams from running from Central Station to the Convention Centre at the height of the morning peak.

One woman said she paid for a taxi to get her to a Pyrmont office on time after she realised the tram was not coming, about 8.30am."We were just standing there, maybe around 100 people there waiting for the tram. It said it was coming in four minutes, but then they told us there was no tram coming." A power outage was responsible for the signal failure, the TMC confirmed. Light rail services resumed after about an hour, with police initially on point duty until the signal service was restored.

‘Climate emergency’ rally to disrupt parts of Melbourne CBD todayMore than 5000 people have responded to an invitation to attend a 'climate emergency rally” which organisers say “is a major event” and is expected to cause “disruptions throughout the CBD” in Melbourne today. I'm smelling Get Up in the air. If these Climate Youth were really serious they would have a real 'die-in' cause they say people are the problem, i think they need reprogramming if its not too late. Not a good day for a global warming protest. It’s cold in Melbourne today. A bit of warming would be good.

Climate protesters flood Melbourne's CBD in call to actionThousands of people gather outside the Victorian Parliament and march through the city to protest about climate change. its the only way the media will cover climate change issues these days. Better off going Canberra as the Coal Mine Libs would be better targeted! Bloody idiots. They have no strategy, no impact assessment just bullshit and bravado. There needs to be a meted strategic approach not the ALPs fart bubbles, the Grrens extremism, and LNP head up arse. A climate pact much like Hawkes Tax summit. Then a staged implementation

'A lot of wrongs to repair': Justice Michael Kirby calls for national bill of rightsAs a high court judge for more than 30 years Michael Kirby knows the law - and he’s using his expertise to call for a national bill of rights. Honestly can't see the foreign white European-Anglo-Christian community & the ruling class of Australia since first contact such as PM Morrison doing that. It'll be like the Chinese Communist Party giving democracy to China! Boy this came just at the perfect time to help with homework 😃
