Three bus drivers working for the State Transit Authority have been sent home from the same Sydney depot amid concerns surrounding coronavirus and contact with people who had been in affected areas.
The situation has left drivers confused, the union said, but NSW Health said only people who had been to mainland China, or had been in contact with coronavirus cases needed to isolate. A NSW Health spokesman said since February 1 all travellers from mainland China have also been required to self-isolate for 14 days after leaving the country as a "precautionary approach to prevent transmission".
"Given the uncertainty ... the union fully supports the cautious approach that's been taken by State Transit."Mr Babineau said drivers were also concerned given they work in an enclosed environment with passengers who could potentially spread germs.
It just goes to show people don’t understand the seriousness of this! And that racism is alive and well in Australia
FFS if you’ve been in close contact with someone who has been to china recently, stay home. Stay away, take paid leave etc....it’s not hard.
