Already a subscriber?Kerry Stokes’ long-standing right-hand man, Bruce McWilliam, is leaving Seven West Media, where he has been a senior executive for more than two decades.

“Bruce has been an excellent executive of Seven for the past 21 years, having been involved in all of the major corporate initiatives we have undertaken during that period, and a director of Seven Group Holdings for many years,” Mr Stokes said. “Working with Kerry Stokes and James Warburton in his two iterations at Seven has never been dull. I’m very proud of my association with Seven and the Seven team, and I wish them every success in the years ahead. Moving forward, I’ll be focused on my corporate and media advisory and property interests.”, said Mr McWilliam had been “an icon of the Australian media industry”.

Mr McWilliam has, over the decades, advised a succession of Australia’s most powerful figures, including Kerry Packer in the 1980s and Rupert Murdoch in the 1990s. He was previously a partner at Gilbert+Tobin and founded a legal practice with former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull.
