Aldi is saving Australian shoppers more than $2 billion on their grocery bill each year, a new report claims. 9News

The data, commissioned by Aldi and produced with business advisory firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, also found Aldi delivers $3.3 billion in benefits a year to the national economy, mainly through its production and supplier partnerships.

Aldi customers have saved more than $2 billion in the past year, according to a report commissioned by the supermarket. Greenwood said in the 18 years Aldi has been in Australia, they have built up about 10 per cent of the national grocery market, bringing solid competition to local supermarket giants Coles and Woolworths.

By offering big discounts on staple grocery items, Aldi's profits have escalated since opening in Australia 18 years ago.
