Alderman Thomas worked as an advisor to Ms Hickey when the latter was Speaker of the House of Assembly. First elected to the council in 2018, Cr Thomas won the top job following former mayor Kristie Johnston's election to the Tasmanian Parliament. "With her 25 years of experience in representing our community, I am confident that Mayor Wriedt will be a strong advocate for Kingborough during this critical growth phase," Alderman Westwood said.On the West Coast, deputy mayor Shane Pitt will take on the mayoral role, while Queenstown businessman Philip Evans has been elected as a councillor.
