It’s taken $75,000, including $25,000 of her life savings, and more than a year of her life, but Sophia Kurianski reckons she’s about ready to go to the next level., a two and three-dimensional computer-assisted design file-sharing platform, already has a healthy handful of clients. As the company’s sole employee, alongside a clutch of contractors, Ms Kurianski, 24, is hoping to go to a capital raise by the middle of the year.
“I started researching the idea, found a few engineers and designers to talk to me and found there was a really big gap in the market for an online-based 3D tool,” she said. “I am trying to differentiate Jinolo by streamlining it to make it simpler to facilitate the conversations between the technical and non-technical people. So if an engineer or a designer wants to send a file to someone who’s not familiar with 3D formats – how to open them, even – then Jinolo is perfect for that.”found that Australia is now eighth in the global start-up ecosystem rankings, overtaking China and securing its position in the top 10 in the world.
Ms Kurianski got her first leg-up with a NSW government MVP Ventures grant of $25,000. The program is designed to help local businesses improve the commercialisation of innovative products and services. It was matched funding for $25,000 that came out of Ms Kurianski’s bank account.
