: A powerful magnitude 6.4 earthquake has struck the Filipino island of Mindanao, about 50 kilometres from Davao City and at a relatively shallow depth of about 14 kilometres.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre, based in Hawaii, has advised that there is no tsunami risk at this time. The Philippines' state newsagency reports some power blackouts in Koronadal City and people being taken to hospital with minor injuries.
