Storms threaten to drench flood-damaged parts of south-east Queensland

Storms are sweeping through a large swathe of southern Queensland, slamming some areas with heavy rain and hailstones as large as 9 centimetres.

Steve Hadley from the Bureau of Meteorology says it's an evolving situation, and rain is expected to fall in Brisbane and the Gold Coast for the next hour or so. An image taken by Peta Hempsall shows lightning striking Mount Cooroora at Pomona, Sunshine Coast around 3:25pm Sunday.
