As Victoria battles the “wicked enemy” of COVID-19, there is speculation about when Daniel Andrews will call in stage four restrictions.

Speculation is rife over when Premier Daniel Andrews will employ a stage four lockdown. Picture: Quinn Rooney/Getty ImagesThe stage three restrictions currently in place mean residents are only allowed to leave their homes for four essential reasons: to shop for essentials, for caregiving, to exercise or for work or study .

Stage four would be even more stringent, Australian National University infectious diseases expert Sanjaya Senanayake told ABC’s“It means very limited, very restricted movement. It will be mentally challenging for all the residents who are under that stage four lockdown. It will have economic consequences, too.”“We know from the Wuhan experience, though bigger than Melbourne, it took about four weeks for the outbreak to come under control using lockdown measures,” he said.

A Victorian Government spokesperson told ABC the health advice remains that stage four restrictions are not necessary at this stage. But judging from comments made by Mr Andrews and Victoria’s chief health officer Brett Sutton, a stage four lockdown is likely not a matter of if, but when.“Further restrictions need to be considered. We can’t rule anything out if there aren’t sufficient mechanisms to drive down transmission.

“We would do the minimum required because we know how much of an imposition it is to businesses and people’s lives, but if it’s required to reduce transmission then it has to be in play.” Mr Andrews said “every single” option about the next phase is being considered and will be based on health advice and data. But, he said, stressed Victorians shouldn’t be alarmed, as the announcement would be made fairly swiftly if additional restrictions were to be put in place.Five million Victorians could face a stage four lockdown if the state’s coronavirus outbreak continues to worsen.

Idiots and selfish people will still do the wrong thing under stage 4, so won’t this just penalise the majority doing the right thing.

26 deaths in a state of 6.7 million. Why is there a lockdown at all? Daniel Andrews is on a power trip. that's why. He is the 'wicked enemy'.

Yet there’s nothing but speculation and ‘suggestions’ in that article.

Victoria's virus death toll rises as stage four restrictions 'considered'Victoria&x27;s COVID-19 death toll has risen by two, with an 80-year-old man and woman dying in hospital overnight. It comes as stage four restrictions are "on the table". I won't lockdown unless Dan stands down The testing is about 4-5 days behind and due to varying numbers of samples received per day, the daily figures are going to jump up and down. Weekly trends will tell a much clearer story, and we won’t notice much difference as the result of lockdowns for at least another week. How about we let the next 5 weeks play out and go from there, I’ll lay odds that things will go reasonably back to normal by mid August but it’ll be what happens after that which will determine where we end up.

Hundreds of Victorians to be hospitalised in next fortnight: Chief Health OfficerState health authorities warn at least 200 coronavirus patients will require hospital care over the next two weeks, as they flagged the possibility of stage four restrictions. That’s not good. And it likely means an extension or escalation of the lockdown. Will be at least 4 weeks longer than the original time. covid19 This boy is beyond hysterical, he has admitted he's looking at the USA, but he's not seeing any reality, like the death rates. I like that guy. Very intelligent and honest.

'Kick a Vic' mentality gets short shrift from ex-premiersFour former Victorian Premiers from both sides of politics say a 'kick a Vic' mentality has reached damaging levels and frustrations should go towards the coronavirus, not Victoria. Is what it is,Victorians have long memories. Life swings in roundabouts. When we are coming out of lockdown and the rest of the country is in it going in, we will just🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️ The Mexican rebellion is in motion. I felt a bit sorry for Qld after the last election. Most of the invective came from the Vic progressive camp and it was pretty nasty. So much so that some had to step in to remind Aust about Qld's Labor past. We'll all be in a 2nd wave soon enough.

A bunch of whining old white men happy to torture and imprison brown pple, give me a break Ballieu - he was a disappointing Premier. Imagine being in Opposition for that long and after winning an election, just not really standing for anything. Perhaps they should speak to the current opposition Leader in Victoria and a couple of his dimwit members, along with Murdoch papers.

Here's what you need to know. It’s not confusing at all. Stop giving a platform to stupid people As a Victorian I know absolutely where I can go and what I can do: no-fuckin-where, and fuck all. No confusion. there's no vaccine for stupid, and even if there were, the smooth-brains would call it a hoax.
