Video of a stoush over toilet paper between a Coles worker and a customer has emerged as supermarkets react to “unacceptable” acts of violence.

Coles isn’t the only supermarket experiencing aggressive behaviour towards its store employees.

“The vast majority of customers have been respectful and understanding in our stores, and we appreciate their patience,” the statement said. Aldi has taken a similar stance, with its CEO Tom Daunt saying this morning the store is “continuing to take steps to ensure our staff remain comfortable serving customers”.

These rules state shoppers need to be “kind, be calm, be empathetic and most of all be courteous” as well as “respect our employees and their physical space”. It also warned police would be called on those who did not uphold the conditions. This morning Coles announced it would be introducing even tougher new buying restrictions on certain items, with customers now limited to two packs of eggs, chilled pasta, frozen vegetables and frozen dessert.its online shopping service to anyone other than the vulnerable and isolated, while Woolworths will close all its stores early on Wednesday evening to try and replenish stock.

This article is poorly reported. The staff member was picking & choosing who got which size packs NOT handing them out randomly. She was racist towards the customer for asking her who the big packs were for. She lost it. Hope she gets replaced by one of the 36000 new applicants.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's an element of racism in how staff are choosing to enforce the limits and who they give stock to. My brown mum was allowed less than the other customers at Aldi. Staff likely using brown customers as an outlet for their aggression and racism.

Perhaps the major supermarkets should be employing security guards during these turmoiled times. I don't know what this recalcitrant fellow actually said and done but staff responding by calling him a '..piece of sh%t' is only going to escalate the situation.

Lol

If you cant control yourself at the shops stay home & self isolate so the rest of us can shop in peace

Coles need to train ur staff on anger management and customer service, gentlemen just wanted to know 'whose the big one for' and the employee yelling him to get out..answer the darn question 'whose the big one for?' looks like ur empoyee is prejudiced against coloured man..

Ban them for life. Make it known that this will be the case. Like the footy.

Remember that time our country banded together to support each other when Bush fires destroyed homes and killed people and wildlife. Remember how proud we were to be Aussies when we bought supplies for families we've never met and watching the heroic actions of Firies? Guess not

Bring on Martial Law!!! That will sort this crap out! 😂😂😂😂😂

Nobody deserves to put up wirh that. Calm down people, it’s a virus, it will pass.

Nice to see real colours show in people in times of crisis.

Well stop reporting on it for idiots

Get a grip people!

Supermarkets should back their staff and ban people like that from all their stores for life
