Victorian government unveils $26.7 million early childhood education support package | Sky News AustraliaThe Andrews government has announced a $26.7 million kindergarten support package to assist parents and young students heading into term four. \n\nVictorian Deputy Premier James Merlino revealed $13 million of the package will go to free sessional kindergarten to help parents with fees, providing payments of around $500 per child for term four across the whole state. \n\nAn additional $3 million will also be allocated to support highly vulnerable children, as well as an extra 5 hours of kindergarten provided for those disadvantaged children. \n\nMr Merlino also announced $4 million of the package will be dedicated to helping kindergarten students with the transition to primary school. \n\n“In a normal year, you would have your 4-year-old kids visiting their local schools and engaging in those schools, having a look around, getting comfortable with the school setting,” he said. \n\n“This is not a normal year so we're going to flip it and this funding will provide support for teachers to visit the kindergarten providers.”\n\n“This is a significant package of support for early childhood educators.\n\nImage: Getty
