A South Australian man who left Australia before police identified him as a suspect in a murder investigation has been arrested 16 years later. Kim Long Rim, 36, flew to Australia on Saturday from Bangkok and was arrested in Melbourne before being extradited to South Australia. His is the fourth arrest in relation to the December 2007 murder of Thea Kheav at an 18th birthday party in the Adelaide suburb of Parafield Gardens.
The group left briefly before returning and fatally stabbing Thea Kheav. Three men were convicted in 2011 of his murder and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole for 20 years. Police identified a fourth suspect six months after the murder investigation began. Rim had left Australia four weeks after the killing. A warrant was obtained in 2008 and he was arrested by Cambodian police but three months later the Cambodian Supreme Court rejected an extradition application.
