The total number of coronavirus cases in South Australia has risen by one after the diagnosis of a man who arrived from the United Kingdom in March.
SA Health believes the man in his 70s acquired COVID–19 overseas, but developed "very mild" symptoms, including a loss of taste and smell sensations, after his return on March 20. He sought a test on May 5 and it was subsequently confirmed he had the virus, and a small number of close contacts have gone into isolation.SA Health does not believe there has been any further community transmission of coronavirus in South Australia, and 99.5 per cent of all cases have recovered.
Im confused. If the symptoms on 24/3 were COVID, why does he still have detectable virus via nasopharyngeal/throat swab more than a month later? Is it viable virus that he was potentially still shedding? Am assuming this wasn’t an antibody test but PCR? SAHealth
Proof that the virus is smarter than politicians. Don’t turn your back...
4 days after arrival? If he wasn't infectious on the flight, then he probably CAUGHT it on the flight (it's well within normal bounds of incubation period), or at the departing airport. Who else on the same long-haul brought it in? Were other passengers contacted SAHealth?
Bugger
ls there any other way the next 3 months will go? Seems obvious: 1. Ease restrictions 2. Second wave comes 3. Choose lockdown again (over many deaths) 4. Consider eradication approach
Symptom free for a while then
Be good to know why he wasn’t tested earlier though - he had symptoms on 24 March.....
CLOSE THE DOOR
So what? Seriously, are there people still thinking it's possible to eliminate this virus from society? FFS just move on.....chances are he's not the only cv19 case. Geez.
Yeah anyone question why the old fool waited a mth to test. No let's have all the doom and gloom scream told ya so it's too soon . It's 1 case and that's reality when you supress like we have, that's why the trickle effect is a better thing.
'Chief Public Health Officer Nicola Spurrier said he was not infectious on his flight into Australia ' (March 20th) How would they possibly know that ?
They must be very upset
SAHealth did this man have any symptoms on May 5th 2020, date of testing. If so, what were they? COVID19Aus
46 days WTF
As long as such people are isolated, as he would be since he would've been in quarantine upon return, then the rest of the state is ok.
bsadams25 too soon to end restrictions then
Sounds like a false +ve, no? Have they been re-tested?
expats returning from O/seas who are C-19 +ve is hardly breaking any streak
