a lot of people are going for these jobs because of demand ...trouble is often the wrong people are employed ...you have to have a good easy going personality and must really like people ...the rewards are endless ...

But who will fight for gay rights, womens rights, minority rights, climate change and avocado rights if all the millenials actually got off their asses to do some work?

LOL millennials are all talk, the moment they have to wipe some angry old demented man's ass they'll be off to join the army instead. Importing people aged 40 and over with the promise of citizenship and pension but only after 25 years of work will fill those jobs more reliably.

Thank goodness for 457 visas for nurses from the Philippines otherwise our current system would collapse. Like fruit picking most young Australians have little interest in a career in aged care.

That's a funny idea. Millenials are still being pampered by their mums.

These comments are disgusting. I know of a millennial doing this job. She’s intelligent, has two jobs and also runs her own small business on the side. She is a beauitiful caring human being. She’s worth so much more than any of you.

No matter what your age this is a vocation not a job. Low pay, under valued, at times confronting & often sad. Certainly not for everyone. More responsible training needed and much better pay. The same goes for childcare workers

They will have to wipe my bum

I would prefer a robot instead thanks.

If it was opinions required, there would be tens of replies, but since it is to do something, we'll hear the silence of political correctness!

Good luck with that! Is there an app for emptying bedpans?

'I am still horrified to this day': Shocking case of neglect heard at aged care royal commissionThe aged care royal commission hears staff at an Australian nursing home ignored complaints of pain from an elderly stroke patient whose catheter had caused him horrific injuries. I wouldn`t put my dog in one .... Look after your parents they looked after you ! It's due to globalist corporations paid via govt contracts for provision of aged care at a profit. A greed driven industry & people in aged care are seen as just cash cows, clients & not elders of a nation. Industry needs to be reformed. Non-profit church based care or state care Care also means in Private Hospitals .Experiences of- ignoring elderly patients real problems, unnecessary procedures, bilk private health insurance, families unable to contact doctors, outdated sedatives -Hyperidol to quieten patients instead of listening. No Accountability!!

Elder abuse cases the 'tip of the iceberg', royal commission hearsShocking cases of elder abuse exposed by the ABC's Four Corners program are the tip of the iceberg, the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety is told. A Royal Commission is never undertaken unless they know the outcome before embarking. Yep, shame on you ABC your bitter little hatreds & prejudices are awful. I just wish that someone would listen to my experience in a well known facility. And I am able to look out for myself. Threats, abuse, room invasion and victimisation.

Informer 3838 royal commission hears murdered lawyer was also police informerThe royal commission has revealed at least three other lawyers were approached by Victoria Police to work with them, including one who has since been murdered. My simple question is if they can't protect their own informers and witnesses identities and lives, what can they really protect, and how are they supposed to fight crimes and criminals? A lawyer that worked for criminals, had a conscience, and made sure those criminals were prosecuted, found Guilty of those crimes, now the lefty do gooders are crying foul. These people killed, assaulted, sold drugs, prostitution, stole, stood over people with force. Hero

Meals left uneaten, violence not reported: non-compliance in aged care facilities surgesThe incidence of reportable abuse and missing residents in aged care facilities had remained stable for years. Then inspectors changed tack. Deplorable and plain old sad. The 'flick and tick' flow must go. Focus should be totally on management and lack of funding from the government........these places are under staffed and have been for decades. In my family’s experience, meals often served with no assistance provided to help with eating. Sufficient staffing to support personal care needs is critical to quality aged care.

Meals left uneaten, violence not reported: non-compliance in aged care facilities surgesThe incidence of reportable abuse and missing residents in aged care facilities had remained stable for years. Then inspectors changed tack. This is not just our grandparents and our parents now. This will one day be all of us. This is important for all. None of what is being reported is new - this kind of thing has gone on for ages!! I applaud them for finally starting to take note of what is actually happening - let's just hope that the sorts of abuses & neglect outlined come to a swift end!! At this rate the FederalElection could be run & won on a Euthansia platform. Could be an usual melding of young & old minds? C'mon Scott are you willing to give it a shot(in the arm) Bill might take it up just to seal a win smh auspol
