It’s the kind of interview he didn’t have to do, and probably shouldn’t have. In the silence, fans could imagine he was doing some self-reflection and was sorry for what he’d done. By speaking he showed a kind of tone-deafness normally reserved for apologies made by US Republican senators orNow fans are left to work out what these revelations mean for them and the brilliant works of fiction that helped shape their lives and values.
You can get defensive and say you did nothing wrong, and that if you did it’s because you had a bad childhood. Or you can take a moment to push past that defensive reflex, accept the criticism and make the necessary changes to ensure you don’t do it again.
