Slaughterhouse worker who stabbed mate 49 times guilty, but not of murder

A Hunter Valley slaughterhouse worker who knifed a colleague to death has been found guilty of manslaughter.Jamie Cust's defence team successfully argued that he was under "extreme provocation" when he killed Jesus BebitaCust will be sentenced in OctoberCust said Mr Bebita sexually assaulted him while he was sleeping and argued he was under "extreme provocation".

I had a friend who assaulted a male because the man repeatedly racially abused him. He was found guilty and the judge said verbal provocation is not a defence to assault someone. Strange how it is a defence when you are alleged to have murdered someone. 🤔

Not sure if I would call them 'mates'.
