Exactly six months after a fire was ignited in the Namadgi National Park and a day before a review begins into the response of ACT emergency services, parts of the large reserve are reopening to the public.

Sections of the Namadgi National Park have reopened to the public exactly six months after a bushfire was sparked in the area and a day before a review begins into the response of ACT emergency services.on January 27, was the territory's worst ever environmental disaster — spanning over 80,000 hectares and destroying 80 per cent of Namadgi National Park.

"When setting out to explore the park, take proper precautions, plan your visit carefully and let someone know where you intend to go," Mr Gentleman. Parts of the park have reopened a day before the first public hearings of a review into the ACT's emergency response to the 2019-20 bushfire season. Senior RFS volunteer Garry Mayo made a detailed, 16-page submission to the inquiry, noting his concerns about how his colleagues were treated.

In submissions to the review, farmers also raised their frustrations about not being allowed to actively fight the Orroral Valley fire front to protect their properties through backburning.
