BREAKING: South Australia will see a major easing of COVID-19 restrictions in place from Saturday, Police Commissioner Grant Stevens has announced. 7NEWS

Commissioner Stevens also said the number of COVID hospitalisations in the state had remained low.

“The critical indicator for us is the number of people being hospitalised on a daily basis, and that has reduced and remains low, which is a strong indicator that the system is able to cope regardless of the number of positive cases,” he told reporters on Thursday afternoon. Commissioner Stevens said close contact quarantine requirements and face mask requirements would be reassessed at next week’s CDC meeting.SA Health says the deaths were those of a man in his 50s, a man in his 80s, a woman in her 50s, and a woman in her 70s.There are 91 people in hospital, including 11 in intensive care with two on ventilation.
