Attorney General Christian Porter has attacked Labor leader Bill Shorten for attending a family wedding of controversial Chinese billionaire Huang Xiangmo. Mr Huang, who has been banned from Australia due to security issues, invited politicians across the political spectrum to his daughter’s nuptials in 2016.
Mr Shorten has dismissed claims he acted improperly, saying the public knew he attended the function. The comments come after Immigration Minister Peter Dutton was criticised following revelations he fast-tracked the citizenship application for Mr Huang’s family, despite concerns the businessman is tightly linked with the Chinese Communist Party.
