Kia has used its sponsorship of the Australian Open for the last few years to launch new vehicles into the Australian market.

“enabling technology”, two-and-a-half years after the Prime Minister mocked EVs as incapable of towing trailers, boats or reaching a family’s favourite camping spot.

Kia has used its sponsorship of the Australian Open for the last few years to launch new vehicles into the Australian market, with Mr Norbiato describing the event as “an absolute slingshot into the year”.

It has been a hard slog since the COVID-19 pandemic took off with the attendance of the Australian Open in 2021 cancelled for five days before re-starting again, creating issues for how Kia could leverage its sponsorship at Melbourne Park.“We’ve learned over the last two years how to be strategically reactive,” Mr Norbiato said of the disruption it causes for brand events and sponsorship activities.

“We need to tell that story and there’s a job to do, getting people to physically see, touch and experience, our brand is the best way to address that,” he said.
